Dayoucha

Youcha ( a gruel of sweetened, fried flour) is a food which Dong people like. Delicate fragrance and sweet youcha can refresh oneself and awake the brain and call forth vigor. It has also the effectiveness for dispelling damp and hot, preventing common cold and preventing diarrhea. When a guest comes, the hospitable Dong people must entertain him or her with youcha.

 

“Sanyuesan” Fireworks Festival

Fireworks Festival is the grand festival of Dong people a time in a year. On Fireworks Festival, people wear festival rich dress and go to Fireworks Field form villages and stockades in order to see the soul-stirring, intense and brilliant scene when people are snatching fireworks. Bamboo Shaft Dance

Bamboo Shaft Dance is also called Dachai Dance. On the sunning ground for drying grain or on a level ground on hill slope, two square-shaped woods, which are as thick as leg, are put down in parallel position to form mat frames. On mat frames, many long bamboo shafts, which are as thick as wrist, are put down in transverse position. The bamboo-shaft-holders facing each other hold each bamboo shaft end by each hand. They hit bamboo shafts on the mat frames and hit bamboo shafts on bamboo shafts to give out rhythmical sound called “dechai”. The postures of bamboo-shaft-holders are sitting posture and squatting down posture.

 

Miao’s Hillslope Meeting

In the first month of the lunar year, on Damiao Mountain , Hill slope Meeting are holding everywhere to greet the New Year. Many activities, such as Lusheng Match, blowing a reed-pipe wind instrument and dancing, Horse fight, Bullfight and Bird fight, can insert these meetings. In these days, the troops of stockades come to lusheng level ground from all directions. They gather below Lusheng columns to offer sacrifices to gods and to carry out Lusheng Match. Many thousand people take part in every Lusheng Match Hillslope Meeting. Momentum is grand.
