Recently, the steel box girder of the Guantang Bridge in Liuzhou was officially closed. Guantang Bridge is the 21st river-crossing bridge in urban section of Liujiang River. It is invested by China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau and is the largest thrust basket-type steel box arch bridge in the world with a span of 457 meters. The 462-meter-long deck is connected by 148 slings and two hanging arch ribs. The bridge looks like a handle of a basket and a new crescent moon. The steel box girder of the bridge is single-box, single-chamber, flat, streamlined and all-welded. The steel box girder of the bridge is divided into no-cable zone and cable zone. The total number of steel box girders is 44, and the total length and width of the steel box girders is 461.66 meters and 39.5 meters, respectively. And the maximum lifting weight is 245 tons.
It is known that the Guantang Bridge goes across Liujiang River, linking Lianhua Avenue in the west and Donghuan Avenue in the east. The length of the main line of the bridge is 1,155.5 meters. After the closure of the bridge project, the follow-up construction such as bridge deck pavement and traffic engineering will be carried out in an all-round way. The bridge will be fully opened to traffic by the end of 2018. It will play a positive role in solving the traffic jam between the northeastern district of the river and the Liudong New District and promoting the economic development of the Liudong New District. It will also serve as a gift for the 60th anniversary of the founding of Guangxi.
