Recently, on the opening show of 2018 New Zealand-Australia-China (NAC) International Fashion Culture Week which was held in Auckland Exhibition Center, New Zealand, the “Dong minority’s gift”—Five Ladies of Dongzhai series show from Liuzhou No.2 Vocational School shocked the whole assembly room, and the designer of this masterpiece—Chen Meijuan, a teacher from Liuzhou No.2 Vocational School, got the “Prize of Best Cultural Brand” and “Prize for the Best Designer”.
The 2018 New Zealand-Australia-China (NAC) International Fashion Culture Week was organized by the Committee for NAC International Fashion Culture Week. Series of Five Ladies of Dongzhai themed on Chinese intangible cultural heritage of minority’s clothing stood out from the whole assembly room. The masterpiece of Chen Meijuan consists of 7 series and 35 sets of clothing, and the clothing design holds the feature of Five Ladies of Dongzhai (lady for singing, lady for making tea, lady for embroidering, lady for drawing and lady for cooking). Inheritance and innovation are the main line of design, which is made up of 3 chapters named Past, Present and Future respectively. Through employing the clothing factors of Dong minority, bold innovative design has been made.
After the opening show, at the request of Fashion Week Committee, the show was played again in Auckland on July 28. Later, at the invitation, the show was played again in Sydney Ethnic Chinese Tongmeng Hall, Australia on August 5.
