Generally speaking, small sundry fruits are known as all kinds of unpopular (less-planted) fruits. Booming in recent years, the growth for such fruits is based on the advanced ideas of new species, new technologies and special cultivation. At present, Liuzhou city has planted more than 10 species of the fruits with an area of over 200,000 mu and an annual capacity of greater than 150,000 tons.

Small sundry fruits, compared with the most-widely grown fruits, boast faster harvest and higher added value.

Currently, their growth in Liuzhou is promising. As new members of fruit market, quite a few of such fruits enjoy increasing sales due to their extended supplying period and rapid improvement of quality.

Owing to the regional and climatic restrictions, some rural areas of Liuzhou is not suitable for the most-widely grown fruits. In contrast, characterized by drought and barrens resistance, many small sundry fruits can be grown in most areas of Liuzhou, which will effectively increase local economic benefit in agriculture and income of farmers.

The output of some most-widely grown fruits is tended to be stable and the primary task in the future is to improve the quality and control the quantity, thus the market prospect of small sundry fruits is promising in the following 8 to 10 years; but, the plantation of small sundry fruit should base on the local natural conditions, improved species should be promoted and scientific cultivation technologies should be adopted to improve the fruit quality; besides, special and rare species of small sundry fruits should be encouraged, so as to satisfy the needs of customers, according to the head of fruits growth office.

The Ganshe Tun, located in Baoren village of Ligao town which is the main production zone of the Qinghua pear (an excellent variety of pear first cultivated in Taiwan) in Liujiang county, vigorously promotes the plantation of Qinghua pear. Local farmers adopt the bagging-plantation technology to further ensure the quality and appearance, gaining an income of over 10,000 yuan per mu.

Although the sundry fruits enjoy a promising prospect now, we should focus on the “small-scale, quick and effective” plantation rather than a blind growing; we should analyze the sales trend of various species of the same fruit and choose the new quality species with promising sales;

Besides, we should learn the market circles of different small sundry fruits, and analyze the subtle changes in sales of small sundry fruits from the overall sales trend, so as to grasp the sales potentials for specific marketing-strategies making and seize the initiative on brand operation to make a standing in the market, according to the head of Liuzhou agriculture authority.
