Liuzhou’s two self-owned brand automobiles achieve good answer sheets in 2014

At the beginning of 2015, domestic auto companies began to release their all-important 2014 sales data.

Liuzhou SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co reported the largest number of sales, selling 1.8 million new cars; and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co sold an accumulative total of 280,000 cars, achieving a remarkable sales performance in the domestic automobile market.

With a daily sales volume of around 5,000 cars, Liuzhou SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co has made a breakthrough sales record in 2014. The company’s strong 2014 sales figures mean that it has a good chance of maintaining its nine-year consecutive title of ‘sales volume champion in the domestic micro car market’.

Among the 1,805,850 new cars sold in 2014, 52 percent are family vehicles. The family vehicles section of SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile achieved an annual sales volume of 932,389 in 2014, amounting to 52 percent of the total sales volume. The seven-seater Baojun 730 family vehicle stood out from the rest, with monthly sales surpassing 30,000 in December. The car, which has been on the market for only five months, has an accumulative sales volume of more than 120,000, highlighting a record growth speed among China’s new car types.

The seven-seater family vehicle grew 64.6 percent, compared to 2013 and amounted to 45 percent of the whole multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) market.

The micro car belonging to SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co saw a good market performance, while the family car developed by leaps and bounds. With a total sales volume of 873,461 new cars, the market share of Wuling Sunshine and Wuling Rongguang is expected to be around 50 percent, maintaining their nine-year reputation as sales champions.

Since the commencement of the joint venture 12 years ago, the vehicle sales volume has increased 12.3 times. In 2015, SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile will go further in the family car market by launching a revolutionary micro car – the Hongguang V – which optimizes the advantages of traditional micro car whilst overturning the traditional engine structure, offering more secure structure protection.

Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor also made an impressive sales performance, maintaining a 30 percent year-on-year increase. Statistics showed that in December, 2014, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor sold 26,000 cars, of which 4,280 were commercial vehicles and 21,000 were passenger cars. The company sold an accumulative total of 280,000 cars in 2014, with a year-on-year growth of 23 percent.

Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor has established a comprehensive array of models in the MPV, SUV (sports utility vehicle) and sedan markets, which will be optimized further. However, the company pays more attention to the small family car and MPV vehicle markets and will launch a new series of cars in the future.
