It is learned from Liuzhou Railway and Channel Construction Office that National Development and Reform Commission has given an official, written reply to the Proposal for Construction of Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway Project. Now, Liuzhou has submitted the feasibility study report to relevant departments, and a review meeting has been held recently.
It is reported that Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway (Liuzhou-Wuzhou section of Liuzhou-Zhaoqing Railway) starts from Liuzhou and terminates at Wuzhounan Railway Station, via Xiangzhou County of Laibin City and Pingnan County of Guigang City, which links with Nanning-Guangzhou Railway at Wuzhounan Railway Station. There are several railway stations in the whole railway line, including Jinde, Maping, Xiangzhou, Dazhang, Dapeng, Pingnanbei, Mengjiang, Shuangfeng, Wuzhounan and Wuzhou. The overall length of the high iron is 233 kilometers. Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway is rated as national class I, with two main tracks and target speed value of 160 kilometers per hour. The project is the main channel for railway freight between Sichuan-Chongqing-Guizhou-Guangxi region and Pearl River Delta, and a main line railway combining passenger and freight lines.
Liuzhou-Zhaoqing Railway has been brought into the medium and long-term planning for railway network, Liuzhou-Wuzhou section of which is a construction project in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan. The construction of Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway helps improve the layout of railway network in western China, and strengthen the economic ties between Guangxi and Pearl River Delta. The total investment of the project is expected to reach 19.6 billion yuan, which is co-financed by China Railway Corporation and the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
