Mayor visited Shengli residence renovation scene

¡°Here you come, mayor. We¡¯ve been looking forward to the renovation for such a long time.¡± Senior citizen Chen Huaxiu, who lives in Building 9 of Shengli Residence Block, said excitedly to Mayor Zheng Junkang during his visit to the block¡¯s renovation scene. Yesterday (9th of July), mayor Zheng Junkang, vice mayor Yan Shiming and government officials from related departments visited the place again to make sure works would be done appropriately.

The team arrived early in the morning. Zheng listened to explanations from officials from Liubei District government while inspecting the residence.

In Chen Huaxiu¡¯s place, Zheng saw the 30 square metre home of her, which is the home for three generations. She told Zheng that the place shakes when trains pass by and they have to use umbrellas when going to the toilet. ¡°I was so excited hearing about the renovation. I haven¡¯t lived in new building so far in my life.¡± After the visit, Zheng went to another resident place and saw broken segments of the place. These places would collapse without further renovation soon.

After his home visits, Zheng listened to opinions from residence representatives. Their problems mainly include small area, incomplete facilities, poor environment and social security. They are all delighted about the renovation by the government and looking forward to move into new places.

After hearing the opinions, Zheng said: to help the public is a major scheme of the party¡¯s 17th meeting, to which Liuzhou government has been working on. There are many buildings of 50s and 70s of last century which need to be renovated urgently and Shengli Block is one of them. He also said the renovation would not move the residence away, and facilities would improve to meet the needs of the residence. Housing price after the renovation will be controlled restrictedly by the government and will not rip off the people. He also hoped the renovation will be supported by the residence and the public.

The renovation will officially begin tomorrow (11th of July).
